About

I’m Gabriel Dávila, an engineer based in Buenos Aires. My work sits at the intersection of video streaming, cloud infrastructure, and networking.

What interests me most is understanding how systems work beyond the surface: how media is encoded and delivered, how networks affect user experience, how applications behave at scale, and how architectural decisions affect performance, reliability, and cost.

This blog is a place to document technical investigations, experiments, and things I learn along the way. Most of them start with real problems I encounter in my work, but I try to explore them from a broader technical perspective so they remain useful beyond a specific product, vendor, or customer.

Much of that perspective comes from my experience at Bitmovin and Personal Flow, as well as from my earlier research on Internet measurements and network topology with the CoNexDat group at the University of Buenos Aires, where I also completed my Master’s degree in Telecommunications.

That research experience still shapes how I approach technical problems: measure first, then be clear about what the data supports and what it does not.
